Dertie Duzin is a team built on inclusion, perseverance, and the belief that adventure belongs to everyone.
From Spartan races and Deka events to Mount Kilimanjaro in the summer of 2028, we prove that disability does not eliminate adventure. It simply changes how we reach the finish line.
What is a Service Spartan?
What is a Service Spartan?
A Service Spartan is a term coined by Dertie Duzin to describe an able-bodied athlete who volunteers their time, effort, grit, and heart to help adaptive athletes pursue adventures without limits.
Service Spartans are more than helpers. They are teammates, guides, problem-solvers, motivators, and friends. They understand that true inclusion is not about sympathy or pity. It is about creating opportunities for everyone to participate, compete, and experience adventure together.
A Service Spartan adapts to the athlete, not the other way around. Whether pushing a GRIT Freedom Chair through rugged terrain, assisting with obstacles, crossing rivers, climbing mountains, or simply offering encouragement when it is needed most, they become an essential part of the team.
At Dertie Duzin, the title of Service Spartan is earned, not given. It represents integrity, teamwork, accountability, and a commitment to helping others reach goals that may seem impossible alone.
Service Spartans prove that disability does not eliminate adventure. It simply changes how we reach the finish line.
